Recognizing Rev. Dr. Lorina Marshall-Blake on her retirement and the lasting impact she has made on the City of Philadelphia. WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Lorina Marshall-Blake has distinguished herself as a trailblazing leader and dedicated public servant whose career has been defined by her steadfast commitment to advancing the needs of the City of Philadelphia and improving the lives of those she serves; and WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Lorina Marshall-Blake has served as President of the Independence Blue Cross Foundation (“Foundation”), where she has led strategic, programmatic, and operational efforts to advance the Foundation’s mission to lead sustainable solutions that improve the health and wellness of communities in Philadelphia; and WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Lorina Marshall-Blake has overseen $115 million in grantmaking while leading the Foundation and has distinguished herself as a collaborator, innovator, convener of diverse organizations, and thoughtful leader in addressing emerging health needs; and WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Lorina Marshall-Blake has devoted her time to her church and community through serving as an associate minister at Vine Memorial Baptist Church and through her active involvement in more than thirty professional and civic organizations, including serving as the 28 th President of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
