Honoring and recognizing Inspector Frank Bachmayer on his retirement from the Philadelphia Police Department after 44 years of dedicated service. WHEREAS, Growing up in the Mayfair section of the City, Frank Bachmayer was raised by his parents, along with his two sisters. After graduating from Father Judge High School, Frank joined the police department as part of Class 257 of which he is the last member still on active duty and began his career in the 23rd District in 1981; and WHEREAS, He courageously rose through the ranks serving in five different districts in addition to the Northwest Detectives and the Narcotics Strike Force before being appointed Inspector of the Northeast Division. Inspector Bachmayer’s heart has always been in the patrol division where he felt he could make the most impact on quality-of-life issues and crime prevention in the neighborhoods he loved; and WHEREAS. Inspector Bachmayer, a life-long Philly sports fan, has made an impact on the City in a way very few know, he is responsible for the “tradition” of greasing the poles in preparation for major sports wins following the 2008 Phillies World Series celebrations at Frankford and Cottman; and WHEREAS, After the devastating plane crash on Cottman Avenue and following an earlier crash in which he heroically saved a pilot’s life, Frank realized it was time to retire.
