WHEREAS, Jalen Alexander Hurts was named MVP of Super Bowl LIX on February 9, 2025, after leading the Philadelphia Eagles to their second Super Bowl victory in franchise history; and WHEREAS, Hurts’ MVP performance included 221 passing yards, 72 rushing yards, 2 passing touchdowns, and a rushing touchdown as the Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22; and WHEREAS, Hurts’ performance silenced doubters who questioned his accuracy, decision making, and ability to keep the offense humming if the Chiefs were successful at containing the Eagles run game. His Super Bowl MVP win elevates him into an elite tier of Super Bowl winning quarterbacks, and sets him on a Pro Football Hall of Fame trajectory; and WHEREAS, Hurts has been no stranger to delivering in big moments when called upon.
