Also naming 7th Street between Bigler Street and the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) as “SEYAA Way” to honor the Southeast Youth Athletic Association. WHEREAS, The Southeast Youth Athletic Association (SEYAA) has been a cornerstone of youth sports and recreation in South Philadelphia since its founding in 1993 ; and WHEREAS, A self-sufficient non-profit organization that is run by an all-volunteer staff that manages sports programming for over 5000 children annually aged 3 to 17 years old ; and WHEREAS, SEYAA manages everything from Flag Football to Basketball, from T-Ball to soccer. SEYAA has the largest soccer program in South Philadelphia area ; and WHEREAS, Players from SEYAA have not only gone on to play high school and college sports, but also have become professional Basketball players; played on winning Super Bowl teams or have been drafted by Major League Baseball teams; and WHEREAS, SEYAA's Mission Statement from the beginning was to strive to give every child in the community an opportunity to be involved in sporting activities on a year-round basis- no matter what their skill level; and WHEREAS, It has always been SEYAA's goal to provide their participants with the best equipment, the best sporting facilities, and the best fields all in one location.
