Renaming the intersection at 21st Street and Godfrey Avenue to "Rev. C. L. Pryor Way" in honor of Reverend C. L. Pryor, a visionary leader, community servant, and longtime pastor of Corinthian Baptist Church of Germantown. WHEREAS, Reverend C. L. Pryor arrived in Philadelphia in June of 1974 to assume the role of Pastor at Corinthian Baptist Church of Germantown, and quickly became a beacon of faith, hope, and community engagement in the City; and WHEREAS, Under his leadership, the church expanded its ministries and outreach significantly, including the creation of a Youth Department, a formal scholarship ministry, and the Corinthian Christian Academy, a private school serving pre-school through 5th grade with certified educators; and WHEREAS, Reverend Pryor championed initiatives that met tangible needs, including the establishment of a Food Bank Ministry, Fun Day community outreach events, senior-focused programs like Happy Hearts, and strong partnerships with local law enforcement to ensure church and neighborhood safety; and WHEREAS, Reverend Pryor served not only the church but also the larger Philadelphia community through civic engagement, board service with organizations such as the Pennsylvania Baptist State Convention, Center in the Park, Imhotep Institute Charter High School, and more, always advocating for justice, education, and equity; and WHEREAS, A lifelong proponent of civil rights, Reverend Pryor’s early activism as a college student in Richmond, Virginia, w…
