Recognizing, honoring and celebrating The Wardrobe on its 30th Anniversary of opening. WHEREAS, The Wardrobe, formerly known as Career Wardrobe, is a nonprofit organization and social justice hub devoted to ensuring people who need clothes for any life event have access to that clothing. Addressing clothing insecurity is a complicated and nuanced challenge rooted in helping individuals feel good about themselves and the opportunities in front of them; and WHEREAS, The organization has throughout its history continued the mission of supplying high-quality and professional clothing, including brand-name clothing and professional attire from scrubs to suits. The Wardrobe frequently hosts support service organizations on-site to help address a host of challenges that people who come into the store may experience; and WHEREAS, Job training, support skills, and networking are all part of the suite of services The Wardrobe provides or partners to offer. Many folks who shop there end up coming back for more clothes, support, or to volunteer and pay the help they received to another person; and WHEREAS, Communities served by The Wardrobe are often under-resourced and denied a seat at the table; dressing to the scale of the opportunity in front of them was too often an insurmountable barrier.
