Honoring and celebrating National Crossing Guard Appreciation Day, to highlight and express gratitude for the critical work that crossing guards do to keep roadway connections safe and intersections safe for all. WHEREAS, Philadelphia’s School Crossing Guards are dedicated to keeping roadway connections safe for students and neighborhoods in the City of Philadelphia. Their journey is centered around keeping children safe, but most importantly improving their quality of life. Crossing Guards are also frequently the first face of school that a young person encounters during the day; and make school corridors safer for all; and WHEREAS, February 12, 2025 is National Crossing Guard Appreciation Day, recognizing the special contribution that Crossing Guards make to ensure roadway safety for all school corridors in the City of Philadelphia. Crossing Guards have a significant connection to helping reduce traffic fatalities. They play a crucial role in helping to reduce the Vision Zero goal of zero fatalities by ensuring roadway crossings are safe for students and pedestrians; and WHEREAS, The Philadelphia’s Crossing Guards’ dedication and commitment can be felt by all. Their unwavering love is shown through the rain or sunshine.
