Recognizing and honoring the students, educators, and leadership of Imhotep Institute Charter High School for their outstanding STEM Program and global educational initiatives, including Project Kuumba: Japan, and celebrating their commitment to expanding access to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education for students in the City of Philadelphia. WHEREAS, Imhotep Institute Charter High School has established internationally recognized STEM Program through rigorous academic experiences, cultural awareness, and global engagement; and WHEREAS, The STEM Program at Imhotep Institute Charter High School, developed and led by Shirley Posey and supported by dedicated STEM advisors, and community and parent engagement Deborah Toney-Moore provides transformative opportunities for students to gain exposure to careers and academic pathways in fields that represent some of the fastest-growing and highest-paying sectors of the modern workforce; and WHEREAS, The STEM initiatives at Imhotep Institute Charter High School actively work to address disparities in access to high-quality STEM education by connecting students with real-world learning experiences, global engagement opportunities, and professionals in STEM; and WHEREAS, During the school’s annual STEM Week, more than 1,600 students participate in hands on and interactive learning experiences alongside over 100 STEM professionals, and the 2026 theme creatively draws inspiration from the popular series Stranger Thing…
