Recognizing the Community College of Philadelphia and its “Legislators for a Day” WHEREAS, The Community College of Philadelphia (CCP) serves as a vital institution of higher education, providing accessible, affordable, and high-quality learning opportunities to more than 34,000 students across the City of Philadelphia; and WHEREAS, On October 16, 2025, CCP’s Chief Engagement Office will host “Legislator for a Day,” an initiative designed to connect students with City Councilmembers to gain firsthand experience in the legislative process; and WHEREAS, The event will take place during a stated meeting of City Council at City Hall, where CCP students will shadow Councilmembers, observe Council proceedings, and learn about the responsibilities of local government; and WHEREAS, Students participating in the program will be matched with City Councilmembers based on their home zip codes and areas of interest, ensuring that each student engages with their district representative; and WHEREAS, The initiative highlights the importance of civic participation among young adults, empowering them to become informed citizens, active voters, and future leaders within their communities; and WHEREAS, The “Legislator for a Day” initiative exemplifies the Community College of Philadelphia’s ongoing dedication to fostering civic responsibility, leadership, and community connection among its students; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That this esteemed b…
