Celebrating and honoring Ben Dubin on his retirement after 33 years of dedicated service, unwavering leadership, and a lasting impact on students, athletes, and the school community. WHEREAS, Ben is born and raised in Northeast Philadelphia, and a proud graduate of George Washington High School’s Class of 1988, where he was a basketball player for all four years; and WHEREAS, Ben began his career with the School District of Philadelphia in 1993 as a teacher at Gillespie Middle School, where he also served as the girls’ basketball coach from 1993 to 1999, compiling an outstanding 62-19 record. He continued his coaching career as the varsity basketball coach at Samuel Fels High School from 1999 to 2001; and WHEREAS, In 2001, Ben joined Frankford High School, where he served as a teacher, Dean of Students and Athletic Director. His teams achieved significant success, including a Public League Runner-up finish in 2008, the PIAA District XII 4A Championship in 2008, and runner-up finishes in 2007 and 2009. As Athletic Director, he has been a strong leader and advocate for student athletics, promoting sportsmanship, opportunity, and excellence across all programs.
