WHEREAS, Philadelphia is one of America’s greatest baseball Cities, with a rich bat-and-ball tradition dating back to 1883 when the Philadelphia Phillies were first formed; and WHEREAS, After a decade-long playoff drought, the Phillies have now clinched a spot in the MLB Playoffs for the fourth consecutive season, cementing themselves as one of baseball’s most formidable championship contenders of the 2020s; and WHEREAS, The 96-66 Phillies, winners of the National League East Championship for the second year in the row, finished the 2025 season with the second-best record in baseball. Having earned a first-round playoff bye, they are among the favorites to win the 2025 World Series; and WHEREAS, The Phillies rank among the highest in the league in fan attendance, and the atmosphere of Phillies playoff games has historically been so emphatic that it has spawned a nickname: “Red October”; and WHEREAS, This Red October will see the Phillies’ high-powered offense bolstered by the National League MVP level play of its Designated Hitter, Kyle Schwarber.
