Honoring and Recognizing the All-Star Labor Classic and Philadelphia’s Organized Labor for Thirty-Seven Years of Charitable Service to Students and the Community WHEREAS, For the past 37 years, Philadelphia’s Organized Labor has served as the driving force behind the All-Star Labor Classic, a charitable basketball game that benefits both local charities and high school seniors; and WHEREAS, In recognition of their achievements, each player receives a post-graduation scholarship, supporting their pursuit of higher education or vocational training, and emphasizing the event’s dual commitment to sportsmanship and personal development; and WHEREAS, Players selected for the All-Star Labor Classic exemplify not only athletic ability but also outstanding character and conduct off the court, making them role models within their schools and communities; and WHEREAS, The All-Star Labor Classic has a longstanding tradition of giving back to the community by donating surplus proceeds, after covering scholarships and event expenses, to a charitable organization whose work strengthens and supports families across the region; and WHEREAS, In 2024, the Philadelphia Building and Construction Trades Council selected The Superhero Project as the event’s charity beneficiary, supporting families with premature babies in Neonatal Intensive Care Units, further extending the All-Star Labor Classic’s impact beyond the court; and WHEREAS, The All-Star Labor Classic exemplifies the values of Organized …
