Recognizing April 6 through 12, 2025 as National Crime Victims’ Rights Week in Philadelphia. WHEREAS, Since 1981, the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) within the Department of Justice has celebrated National Crime Victim’s Rights Week, recognized the accomplishments of the victim’s rights movement, and reflected on the progress that has been achieved on a national level; and WHEREAS, Every April, National Crime Victim’s Rights Week challenges the country to confront and remove barriers to achieving justice for all victims of crime; and WHEREAS, From April 6 through 12, 2025, the OVC commemorates another National Crime Victim’s Rights Week, providing a time for our country to honor those harmed by crime, which affects individuals, families, and communities in profound and varied ways, often leaving lasting physical, emotional and social challenges; and WHEREAS, During National Crime Victim’s Rights Week, the OVC provides resources and community guides that detail how to plan outreach, work with the media, find additional facts and statistics to raise awareness of victims’ rights throughout the year; and WHEREAS, The OVC gives annual grants to local communities, creating financial opportunities to celebrate the week through sponsored events; and WHEREAS, The annual observances of National Crime Victim’s Rights Week remind us of the widespread effects crime has on our nation, while creating avenues to support those affected through resource allocation and community building; an…
