Honoring and recognizing Chestnut Hill College and its Political Science Department for their commitment to academic excellence, diversity, civic engagement, and the advancement of future leaders, and further recognizing Dr. Jeffrey Carroll for his historic leadership in the field of political science. WHEREAS, Chestnut Hill College, founded in 1924 by the Sisters of St. Joseph, an inclusive Catholic community whose mission is committed to transformative holistic education, just relationships, innovative thinking and responsible action toward a more unified global society and sustainable Earth; and WHEREAS, Located within Philadelphia’s 8th Councilmanic District, Chestnut Hill College plays a vital role in the educational, cultural, civic and ecological fabric of the City, whose community has made notable impacts in improving the communities in which we live, animated by the Sisters of St. Joseph tenet of an “active and inclusive love of the dear neighbor”; and WHEREAS, The Political Science Department situated in the Center for Data of Society exemplifies these values by preparing students to become engaged, informed, and thoughtful global citizens through rigorous academic training by developing an appreciation of the diversity of communities and cultures, critical analysis of knowledge in the investigation of power, and civic identity, commitment and communication; and WHEREAS, The Chestnut Hill College Political Science faculty and its longtime chair, Dr. Jacqueline C.
