Commending the Department of Licenses and Inspections for launching its new Virtual Inspection Program and celebrating its continued efforts to develop proactive rental property inspections to ensure that all Philadelphians have safe and healthy homes. WHEREAS, The Department of Licenses and Inspections launched a pilot Virtual Inspection Program in 2023 so as to make the inspection process more efficient; and WHEREAS, The development, implementation, and eventual launch of The Department of Licenses and Inspections’ Virtual Inspection Program occurred over the course of multiple Mayoral administrations and demonstrates an impressive cross-administration commitment to serving the needs of Philadelphians; and WHEREAS, The Virtual Inspection Program allows inspections to occur more quickly, safely, and conveniently, allowing licensees to connect with a Certified City of Philadelphia Building Inspector in real time through their smartphones; and WHEREAS, The Department of Licenses and Inspections is committed to improving the inspection process and decreasing wait times by hiring, training, and retaining additional inspectors as well as moving towards a pilot Proactive Rental Inspection Program; and WHEREAS, The Department of Licenses and Inspections and its work are vital to ensuring that all Philadelphians live in safe and healthy homes; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Commends the Department of Licenses and Inspections for launching…
